What our readers have to say

BEING HUMAN

I applaud you for the sensitive and well written article on Mr. Muse and his life with Tourette Syndrome. So often the media sensationalizes the disorder adding to the misunderstanding and lack of acceptance of people with TS. You, however, portrayed Mr. Muse as a human being who has led a difficult life because of this disorder. Great job! You made it easy to identify with him and to feel good about the way he has overcome so many of his life's problems. The strength of the human spirit encourages us all.

Congratulations and keep up the good work.

Director
Tourette Syndrome Association of New Jersey, Inc.

OOPS, BUT YOU’RE STILL ON THE LIST

I am humbled to be included in the list compiled by Jacy Youn and Scott Radway in the March 2007 Hawaii Business issue. Thank you for your confidence in my influence on our state... I hope I can live up to the headline. Many of the folks on this list have inspired me during my journey to make a life for myself and my family in Hawaii, and I am dumfounded that I would be ranked among these leaders.

I wanted to let you know that the article includes one error. Though I love and have been an active member with the Junior League of Honolulu for seven years, and spent one year on JLH President Kathy Perkins’ board, I have never been President of the JLH. The ladies who are able to make this commitment are to be recognized for all their sacrifices to take on that role, and I am not among them.

Thank you so much for the honor.

SEEING IS BELIEVING

It is with gratitude and appreciation that I write this letter to you and the Hawaii Business Magazine. It was such an honor to be informed that the Laser Eye Center of Hawaii was chosen as one of the ten awardees for the 2007 Small Business Success Awards. Receiving an award such as this gives us confirmation that we are doing something good and it is reassuring to know our hard work and dedication is being noticed.
