My Favorite Things

Gina Mangieri

Gina Mangieri is the owner and founder of The Cole Academy Child Development Centers. While most people recognize her from KHON2 News, take off her reporter’s hat and Mangieri’s just a laid-back mom whose favorite way to spend a Sunday afternoon is lounging on the couch watching movies with her family.

Article of Clothing

A red wool coat she wore while covering the presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C. Too bad, she says, “I’ll have to cover a story at the top of Mauna Kea in order to wear it again.” Her favorite place to shop? Ann Taylor at Ala Moana.

Mangieri looks forward to visiting family in Colorado, where she was born and raised. She enjoys getting back to the cold weather and mile-high mountains every so often, and says she feels fortunate to have lived in two of the most beautiful places in the world.

Lunch Spot

Mangieri is a loyal Murphy’s patron. It’s her favorite place for lunch and pau hana drinks — that is, when she’s not chasing around her two young sons. Mangieri says Murphy’s is a great place to watch her favorite sports team: “The Yankees — by marriage,” she says.
