EnviroServices & Training Center, LLC

EnviroServices & Training Center, LLC (ETC), gets the job done… and has fun doing it!  This diverse environmental services and engineering firm has been serving Hawaii and the Pacific Rim since 1994.  Their 18 years of success has been based on the philosophy that employees thrive when provided with supportive working conditions, resulting in high quality products and happy customers.

“The Management”

Creating a friendly environment for their employees to flourish is obvious as soon as you walk through their doors.  The largest space in their Ward headquarters is the “Think Tank” where employees might be discussing technical matters, participating in a brown bag training, relaxing in a massage chair, competing in a fierce game of ping pong or taking on Ms. Pac Man.  Camaraderie is further nurtured during their annual Halloween parties, family days, and themed dinner parties (see above).   Managers believe that a strong sense of teamwork is the crucial element that pulls their 37 scientists, engineers, and professionals from different disciplines together, and is the most important attribute they look for in prospective employees.  Employees also find their jobs meaningful whether they are investigating soil and groundwater contamination, remediating hazardous wastes, conducting lead paint and asbestos assessments, assisting organizations with their environmental compliance issues, or training others to do the same.  ETC also strives to recognize employees for their years of service and merit-based performances, through service awards, bonuses, tuition subsidies, solid benefits package, cafeteria plan, and profit sharing plan. But it’s not all about them! They also foster a sense of giving back to the wider community. On their office walls hang pictures of ETC staff and families who recently prepared and served food to hundreds of people at a homeless shelter, removed invasive algae from Maunalua Bay, and raised money for the Japan Earthquake Relief.  And that’s on top of their annual charitable gift fund contributions (which added $10,000 last year alone), and their annual Canned Food Drive where the company matches $1 for every pound of food donated.

It is an honor to be selected as one of the 2012 Best Places to Work in Hawaii and ETC dedicates this honor to their talented and dedicated staff. They hope to continue to serve the business community, and the community-at-large for many more years to come.
