Aloha Habilitation Services
A Little Aloha…Can Make Things Happen
Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2011, Aloha Habilitation Services is a Hawaii-based healthcare service provider that has grown by meeting the ever-changing outreach service needs of Hawaii residents. Founded by Venefrida Pacleb, an experienced caregiver with Waimano Training School and Hospital, a long term care nursing facility, Aloha Habilitation was established to provide quality care as a privately-held facility in local care homes and individual home settings.
Beginning with a staff of four, Aloha Habilitation focused initially on serving individuals with developmental disabilities and mental retardation under a Department of Health contract. Recognizing changes in state-funded human service contracts, Aloha Habilitation decided to expand its services to the elderly in 2009 to provide specialized outreach services and programs and diversify its revenue base.
“From the start, we make our participants our highest priority and strive to preserve their self-respect, dignity and individual rights,” says Chief Executive Officer Jay Raymundo, who joined the company in 2004. “We design our services to assist individuals in acquiring, retaining and improving the self-help, socialization and adaptive skills necessary for them to reside in their own homes as well as participate in the community to the extent possible.
”By drawing on the extensive experiences of our professionals in social services, case management and nursing home care, we knew we could address the need, as Hawaii’s population ages, to serve our kupuna though nursing respite, personal assistance, in-home care and memory care, among other elder care services,” explains Raymundo, who brings 13 years of experience in care-giving, case management and administration. “As a locally owned and operated company, we believe our homegrown approach allows seniors to age in place in their own home and reflects the Aloha Spirit in our philosophy.”
Today, the company serves more than 100 participants all over Oahu. In 2010, Aloha Habilitation Services was recognized as one of Hawaii’s Fastest Growing Companies. It has future plans for expansion to the Neighbor Islands.
Raymundo credits the outstanding quality of its nursing staff, which includes RNs and LPNs (Licensed Practical Nurses) who bring a wide range of experiences in healthcare, as well as “a warm, kind-hearted attitude of care that comes from the heart,” he says. As healthcare needs change, Aloha Habilitation can contract with specialized therapists to provide physical and psychological services.
“We value our relationships as a family-oriented business. We know that just a smile from someone who cares can make a difference in people’s lives.”
