Corporate Anniversaries 2013: National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii Inc.

Glen Hayashida, CEO of National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii. NKFH staff.

Since its founding twenty-five years ago, the National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii has played a unique role in our community as a leading resource in prevention and early identification, public education, patient and family service, innovative research, and advocacy relating to Chronic Kidney Disease, End Stage Renal Failure, and organ transplantation in Hawaii.

As an organization, we strive to achieve real results with tangible accomplishments.

NKFH Staff.

  • We regularly provide free kidney screenings and educational programs throughout Hawaii.
  • We were instrumental in encourag ing doctors to use GFR testing to help diagnose Chronic Kidney Disease, as Hawaii became the first state in the nation to implement those tests on a wide spread basis.
  • More recently we took a leading role in the creation of a new organ trans plant center in Hawaii by working with medical and government leaders so local organ transplantation would be a reality.
  • We also successfully hosted an international conference where more than 300 peer-reviewed research abstracts were presented and presentations by world-class physicians were delivered.

As we celebrate our twenty-fifth anniversary we are at the forefront of visionary innovations in the way medical services are rendered to kidney patients. We are mindful of the importance of our mission to prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases, to improve the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases, and to increase the availability of organs for transplantation in Hawaii.
