GEICO has been a vital part of the Hawaii business community since 1949 when it first said aloha to “ the Gathering Place.” What started with a small staff now employs 176 GEICO associates working in sales, service, and claims, throughout the islands serving some 130,000 households. By providing consistent value to Hawaii drivers for over six decades through competitive rates and legendary customer service, GEICO has grown to become the largest auto insurer in the state.

Throughout the years, GEICO has learned what works to be successful in Hawaii. GEICO supervisors mentor their associates, coach them and provide vital feedback when it comes to helping customers. GEICO staff members personally inspect damage to every policyholder’s covered vehicle to quickly assess damage.

As vehicles have become more technologically advanced, GEICO recognizes that customers will need highly-trained technicians to provide proper maintenance and repairs. GEICO offers four marketing internships each year to college juniors and seniors majoring in business.

Known for its friendly customer service and competitive rates, GEICO associates have also made quite a name for themselves in the local Hawaiian communities where they live and work.

• GEICO is a long-time sponsor of the Special Olympics and each year associates decorate and host the Special Olympics’ Victory Dance.

• As regular contributors to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), associates regularly volunteer their time during the Labor Day holiday to answer phones during the local MDA telethon. GEICO sponsors the Tote Board on KITV.

• GEICO associates donated more than 800 cans of food in support of the Hawaii Food Bank on Oahu and contributed $2,000 to Kauai’s Food Bank.

• GEICO associates and management participate in several charitable walks, including the Step Out Walk for Diabetes and the AIDS Walk.

GEICO, Government Employees Insurance Company, was founded in 1936 by Leo Goodwin, who originally marketed auto insurance directly to federal employees and select grades of non-commissioned military officers.

GEICO, a member of the Berkshire Hathaway group of companies, can meet the insurance needs of nearly every driver or motorcycle rider. The GEICO Insurance Agency offers customers a wide array of insurance products:

• Boats • Apartments
• Homes • Condos

With our 75th anniversary coming up next year, GEICO associates would like to say “Mahalo” to the people of Hawaii and to the thousands of policyholders who have helped the company become their number one choice for auto insurance in Hawaii.
