Hawaii's Top Employers 2013: EnviroServices & Training Center, LLC
2012 Halloween Party.
After serving Hawaii and the Pacific Rim for nearly 20 years, EnviroServices & Training Center, LLC (ETC) believes clients want to hear five very simple words, “We’ll take care of it!” In fact, ETC employees turn those words into a promise… a mantra for delivering high quality environmental consulting and engineering services. ETC credits their success to their dedicated employees who care about their work and always strive to do their best. Employees credit the supportive working conditions that enable them to be productive and contributing members to the organization. Whatever the reason, it’s contagious and it works... this is ETC’s second year in a row to be named Best Places to Work in Hawaii. Happy employees, happy clients!
Creating a friendly environment for their employees to flourish is obvious as soon as you walk through the doors. The largest space in their Ward offices is the “Think Tank” where employees might be discussing technical matters, participating in a brown bag training, unwinding in a massage chair, competing in fierce games of ping pong or taking on Ms. Pac Man. At their Pearl City office you might find employees shooting baskets or BBQ-ing. Camaraderie is further nurtured at annual Halloween parties, family day events, and themed dinner parties. Managers believe that a strong sense of teamwork is the crucial element that pulls their 40 scientists, engineers, and professionals together, and is the most important attribute they look for in prospective employees. Employees also find their jobs meaningful whether they are investigating soil and groundwater contamination, remediating hazardous wastes, or assisting organizations with their environmental compliance or training issues. ETC recognizes employees for their years of service and merit-based performances through service awards, bonuses, tuition subsidies, solid benefits package, and cafeteria and profit sharing plan. But it’s not all about them! They also foster a sense of giving back to the wider community. On their office walls hang pictures of staff and families, who volunteered to clean parks, serve the homeless, restore watersheds, and raise disaster relief money. Employees are especially proud of their annual Food Drive where ETC matches one dollar for every pound of food donated by employees (and incidentally the girls beat the boys this year), and their charitable gift fund contributions which added $10,000 last year alone.
It is an honor to again be selected as a BPTW winner and ETC dedicates this honor to their talented staff. They hope to continue to serve the business community and the community-at-large, for many years to come.
