Hawaii's Top Employers 2013: Finance Factors

Members of Finance Factors' Employee Events Committee.

Finance Factors is now a two-for-two honoree. Our company’s objective for participating in the survey in 2008 and 2013 was not for recognition, but to establish benchmarks of how our employees feel about the company and to search for ways the company can continue to improve and remain a place where people want to work. We are pleased that both years are consistently positive, and supportive of the part of our mission to “attract and retain quality employees.”

Employee teamwork was displayed at the Dragon Boat Festival.

Employees showed their creativity in a food drive construction competition.

Our company was started by six island families. Our founders instilled a sense of family-like camaraderie, starting with each employee and extending to every customer. One employee commented, “Finance Factors has a strong sense of family.  Every employee is friendly and willing to assist each other as best they can. The (significant) number of current employees that have worked their entire careers here is a testament to how enjoyable it is to work here.” Another employee noted, “It’s not just a work place that you come to every day. It’s a work place that’s home away from home. The teamwork that everyone displays is uplifting. You’re not just an employee here —you’re family.”

We applaud the hard work and dedication of our employees, especially with staffing cutbacks and the recent financial crisis. As rewards and incentives, the company provides flexible work hours; paid vacation, personal time off, and sick days; subsidized medical/dental insurance, bus passes and gym memberships; 401k contributions; profit sharing; and a monetary reward for an annual health checkup. Also, we continuously encourage social activities at work such as fitness walks, yoga classes, team competitions, pau hana gatherings, holiday parties and anniversary celebrations. Additionally, we and our employees are committed to supporting local charities through creative means of giving back to the community, including fun activities to support the Hawaii Foodbank and our signature Charity Breakfast which benefits selected non-profit organizations.

When we first opened our doors in 1952, our purpose was to enter and specialize in the newly developing field of consumer finance. Today, we specialize in residential and commercial real estate lending. Consumers can apply or prequalify for a loan online at financefactors.com. We also offer some of the best rates on certificates of deposit and savings accounts insured by the FDIC.
