Hawaii's Top Employers 2013: Navy Federal Credit Union

The Navy Federal Credit Union Hawaii Team

As a financial institution serving the nation’s armed forces and their families, Navy Federal Credit Union has an 80-year history of service excellence both with its members and with employees. From the moment you walk into any of the 229 branches worldwide, you’ll find a smiling face and personal service. This is because every team member from headquarters in Vienna, Va., right down to the member service representatives at the Pearl Harbor branch, believes the men and women who serve our nation deserve nothing but the best.

“Navy Federal Hawaii is so honored to be selected as one of Hawaii’s Best Places to Work,” said Maria White-Marchus, regional manager. “We have an amazing team! Their enthusiasm and commitment to member service make it a great place to work.”

2013 marks the third win for Best Places to Work for Navy Federal. The organization is proud to give credit to what they call one of their most valuable resources—its employees. They are the faces and relationship-builders of the credit union, empowered to create the best experience possible for members and their families. Navy Federal encourages innovative ideas, many of which were submitted by branch team members.

Supporting its employees is vital for Navy Federal Credit Union. Work/life balance is an important part of the corporate culture, supported by a strong Employee Assistance Program. This program ensures employees can optimize their work performance, health, fitness, and overall well-being. The organization also provides many social and recreational activities, discount tickets to family-oriented entertainment events, and free, informative seminars and webinars. The employee education assistance program offers generous financial assistance and scholarships, helping employees further their education, and enhance career development.

With its earliest branch arriving in 1984 at Pearl Harbor, the credit union expanded in subsequent years to Kailua and Kapolei. Each branch makes its number one priority all about service, and it shows in the way they work, not just with members, but also with each other. The branches participate in community events throughout the year, such as Toys for Tots, Veterans, MS and Heart Walks.

The credit union continues to hire and remains a solid and growing organization with 46 total employees in Hawaii. Navy Federal proudly serves all the nation’s armed forces including the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard, the civilian employees of the armed forces and their families.
