Key Technologies: Audio Solutions for Business

“The Bose story began with the curiosity of our founder,” explains Ronney Oliveros, Territory Manager for Bose Corporation. As a graduate student at MIT, Dr. Amar Bose bought a speaker based on its specifications. Disappointed with the sound quality, he set out to learn why the components he chose didn’t sound at all like a live performance.
From research, Dr. Bose determined that specifications could not predict how a music system would sound in the home. He began studying acoustics and psycho-acoustics, or the human-perception of sound.
Dr. Bose’s research at MIT led to the development of new, patented technologies. With those patents, he founded Bose Corporation in 1964, and in 1968, achieved international acclaim with the introduction of the Bose 901® Direct/Reflecting speaker system. Dr. Bose‘s founding principles included a commitment to research and a culture of innovation. Those principles have fostered advancements in several fields, including home audio, automotive sound, and noise-reduction headsets for consumers and pilots.
Bose products and services are available directly from Bose and authorized resellers. The first Bose-owned-and-operated store was the Bose Entertainment Center, opened in the early 1980s on Kapiolani Boulevard. Additional stores are now open in the United States and throughout the world, each striving to help consumers find the home entertainment system that’s right for them—in an informative, fun, and entertaining way.
Bose also offers professional systems, including new amplifiers and installed or portable loudspeakers for a wide variety of commercial applications. “We have customers who purchase headphones during one visit, and return when they need an audio solution for their business,” explains Oliveros. “Our business music systems are ideal for retail spaces, offices, meeting rooms and restaurants.”
