Pacifica: Spotlight on Waterfront Plaza

Surgicare of Hawaii

Since it opened in 2010, this state-of-the-art, ambulatory and multispecialty surgical center has been growing and breaking new ground. It continues to advance the quality of same-day surgeries in Hawaii. Its Waterfront Plaza location offers its patients the convenience of having outstanding and complementary health care professionals and services just steps away.

“Our growth has been impressive since we opened, with our volume of services now doubled to 7,200 procedures a month,” says Kris Kroeger, administrator of Surgicare of Hawaii, an affiliate of Surgical Care Associates, one of the nation’s largest outpatient surgical companies. Located at the former Wallace Theaters site, the 17,000-square foot facility is a joint venture with Hawaii Pacific Health and local physicians that ensures a safe, high level of same-day surgical procedures provided by qualified surgeons, nurses and trained technicians.

Most recently, Surgicare added breast surgeries, including total mastectomies. “This reflects the newest advancements in the state of out-patient technologies today whose high success rates can now allow patients to recover quickly, safely and comfortably at home,” says Kroeger. In December 2012, Surgicare added brachytherapy, the latest in safe radioactive treatment for prostate cancer. The center continues to serve patients needing cataract surgery, arthroscopic knee surgery, tonsillectomy, cyst removal and hand surgery, among many other same-day procedures.

Waterfront Plaza has proven “incredibly beneficial for our growth,” says Kroeger, citing the complex’s centralized location and close proximity to major hospitals, a wide variety of physicians and specialized healthcare practitioners among its neighboring tenants, and “great parking” for patients and their families.
