GET USED TO IT
“Bringing our own bags is simply a matter of getting used to doing it. How hard would it be for us to keep 5 canvas or other bags in the trunk of the car in case we end up at the store? In some areas of Europe, having your own totes for groceries is expected and normal. If it takes legislation for us to accept and make this transition, so be it…”

BUT IS IT PROFITABLE?
“Anyone check to see Hoana Medical’s revenue per year? Or is it an idea that sounds good? When will they raise Series F of private funding under Act 221? Come on now ... an IPO for hospital sensing beds ... is that revenue ramp possible?”

BACON DOESN’T PAN OUT
“I don’t think that the military bacon works as described in this article. Think what you have to spend on infrastructure such as streets and also schools. Most of the contracts go to the Mainland anyway.”

CALLING ALL LEADERS
We’ve devoted this issue to information about leaders in the community, but is there anyone we missed? Who are the up and coming leaders in Hawaii’s business community and where will they come from? Send your suggestions to feedback@HawaiiBusiness.com and tell us why.

POLL QUESTION: HOW DO YOU USE THE HAWAII BUSINESS BLACK BOOK?
 1) I read every profile from Abe to Zia.
2) I look up an executive’s profile before I meet with them.
3) I like to see who hasn’t updated his or her photo lately.
4) I want to see if there are any executives younger than  me. Then cry.
5) I want to see if Hawaii Business misspelled the name of  my alma mater.
