Leaders. Our Black Book 2008 is made up of 366 of them. We sometimes assume that leaders have always been leaders because they’ve been recognized for so long. But how did they get to where they are today? What did they have that set them apart from the rest?
Hawaii Business spoke with nine people who we thought exemplified leadership in our community. Their industries and paths vary. There’s a banker who gives back, the president of a prominent women’s association and a war hero who became a politician. Through their stories, we found traits and skills they learned to become leaders.
