Small Business Awards

Sponsored by Bank of HawaiiHawaii Business is looking for the best small businesses in the state.
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2010 Small Business Success Awards.

Winners will be recognized at an event in early 2010 and will be featured in the February 2010 issue of Hawaii Business.

If you know a compelling story about a Hawaii-based business with fewer than 100 employees, Hawaii Business wants to know about it. The small business could be a great story for any number of reasons: rapid sales growth, a unique product, notable longevity, overcoming an unusual challenge or executing a dramatic turnaround.

Nominate a business in any one of these categories:

  • Lifetime Achievement - A businessperson or partnership that has exemplified long-term success.
  • Export-oriented
  • Innovation (not necessarily "technology"; innovation can be achieved in different ways)
  • Family Owned
  • Community Service
  • Best New Business (less than 5 years old)

Judging of the nominated businesses will be by the following panel:

John Butler - UH Family Business Center
Su Au Doyle - Executive Director, Aloha United Way
Eddie Flores - President, L&L Hawaiian BBQ
John Holman - Director, Pacific Islands, U.S. Commercial Services, Hawaii Export Assistance Center
Lisa Maruyama - Pres. and CEO, HANO
Dennis Teranishi - Pres. and CEO, Hawaiian Host
Jim Tollefson - President, Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii
Susan Yamada - Executive Director, UH Shidler College of Business: Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship
Beverly Creamer - Hawaii Business magazine, Senior Writer
