Corporate Anniversaries 2014: The Plaza Assisted Living

Assisted living… it’s what we do!”  The tagline is emblazoned throughout The Plaza Assisted Living’s advertising and promotional materials. To Tricia Medeiros, the phrase means much more. “It represents a commitment to provide quality senior care options for all of Hawaii’s kupuna who can no longer live alone, but aren’t ready for a nursing home”.

As Regional Director of The Plaza Assisted Living, Medeiros oversees operations for all The Plaza communities throughout Oahu. From their beginning in 2004, she has seen how this commitment to Hawaii’s seniors has touched the lives of so many families – the very families that inspired The Plaza’s creation. Their story began with a local businessman who struggled to find assisted living options for his aging parent. Faced with limited options, it became his mission to build a senior assisted living community for families facing similar situations throughout Hawaii.  His determination was the foundation for The Plaza Assisted Living – Hawaii’s premier assisted living senior care community. 10 years later, The Plaza Assisted Living remains committed to providing quality rental apartment living options for seniors, offering residents a variety of comprehensive care services.

This commitment to Hawaii’s seniors continues to be one of The Plaza’s core values. Medeiros says, “We’re proud of the fact that so many seniors have thrived at our Assisted Living communities. In fact, today there are several Plaza residents that have been with us since we opened our doors - over 10 years ago”.

The Plaza currently serves Hawaii’s seniors from three state-of-the-art senior assisted-living community properties throughout Oahu, including Mililani, Punchbowl, and the newest location in the Plaza family of properties, The Plaza at Moanalua. As they celebrate their 10th year, even more exciting developments are on the horizon. With a new Pearl City property slated to open in 2014 and several more properties expected over the next several years, The Plaza Assisted Living looks forward to continued growth, which would enable them to provide assistance to more of Hawaii’s seniors.

“It’s an exciting time”, Medeiros says. “As Hawaii’s senior population continues to grow, so will the need for adequate senior care. The Plaza is proud to remain committed to providing assisted living solutions to Hawaii’s kupuna and their loved ones,” Medeiros says. “It’s what we do.”
