Making Music

Every year, ukulele players from around the world take over the Kapiolani Park Bandstand and strum their hearts out as if every single one of them just sucked down a double shot of espresso. This year, the Starbucks 38th Annual Ukulele Festival will be held on July 27 and will showcase over 700 keiki players, many of them products of ukulele instructor and event producer Roy Sakuma. The free festival will also feature popular musicians such as James Hill from Canada, Herb Ohta Jr. and Paula Fuga, as well as ono food booths and a silent auction. www.roysakuma.net/ukulelefestival
