Nothing Fishy

Fishcake in Kakaako serves neither fish nor cake, but it does offer exclusive upscale furniture from around the world. The showroom also serves as a gallery for local contemporary artists, says a company press release. Paintings, photographs and sculptures are arranged in a living room setting, just as they would look in your house. But why the eccentric name? The owners originally wanted to open in the old Kibun Red and White fishcake factory, but eventually passed on the location. However, they had already started calling themselves “Fishcake,” and the name stuck.
