A blend of “adult” and “adolescent,” adultescent is a childless middle-aged person whose tastes and hobbies are that of a younger generation. This person lives with his or her parents rent free, leaving loads of money to spend on discretionary items like a Nintendo Wii, a new Coach bag, an iPhone and Hannah Montana concert tickets. A New York Times article said it is a “person with teenage tastes and an adult credit card.”
