The opposite of “postpone,” prepone means to reschedule to an earlier time. According to wordsmith.org, the word is popular in India because everything from elections to weddings is preponed constantly. Worker 1: I know we were supposed to meet on Friday, but something came up. I’m open on Thursday morning, though. Worker 2: OK, let’s prepone it to Thursday at 10.
