Surfing onto the Net

This September, local film company TalkStory Productions in partnership with Hollywood-heavyweight Brookwell McNamara Entertainment began filming the first of 20 episodes for its new television series, "Makaha Surf," which will air April 7 on Viacom's (NYSE:VIA) cable network The N.  The show, originally titled "Boarding School," is a dramatic teen series following the lives of several female surfers aspiring to go pro. Co-Executive Producer and local boy Jason Lau says that while "Makaha Surf" won't have quite the economic impact as a certain island-themed show also filming on Oahu, it does expect to spend at least $6 million locally during its 3-month production cycle.
