Editor's Notebook

Hawaii Business’ growth over the past year hasn’t been limited to our fast-growing circulation, which is now over 12,000 issues a month. We’ve been bulking up in-house, too. Leslie Light now serves as Associate Publisher and Sales Manager. In her publisher duties, Leslie is responsible for the day-to-day operations of this publication. She also oversees our sales team, which has been doing extremely well this fall.

I’m also happy to introduce Randal Ikeda, our new Chief Financial Officer. He serves in that capacity for our parent company, PacificBasin Communications, Inc. If you watch Hawaii’s number one television news program, the KHON Channel 2 News with Joe Moore, you will have noticed our latest Hawaii Business effort. It is the “Hawaii Business Report” on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m. with Joe Moore. Kelli Abe Trifonovitch, who had been the magazine’s Managing Editor, does the reports. The move is a return to Kelli’s TV roots. She was a regular on KGMB News and later public television during the late 1980s and into the 1990s.

Kelli’s appointment to run our HBTV operation led to our most recent promotion. Former Senior Editor David K. Choo is now Managing Editor of Hawaii Business.

One of Dave’s new responsibilities will be filling this column every month. While I will still serve as Editor and Publisher, Dave now runs our editorial operation on a day-to-day basis. Readers, I think, would be far better off hearing his views about that month’s issue and the state of our business climate.

Finally, I invite all of you to head over to our relaunched Web site, www.hawaiibusiness.cc. Webmaster Dan Cameron is still rolling out new features to the site, which we expect will be the best Web site about business in Hawaii. And we’ll have a big addition to the online efforts in a month or so. Stay tuned.
