Judge's Comments: Winner was a very clean design with excellent use of drop-in photographs, judicious Photoshop work and meticulous use of white space. The addition of the graphs and photos that weren’t shot too tight gives the viewer some room to breathe.
Jason Ubay was a finalist in the magazine short feature category for January 2009’s “Obama Presidency.”
In the category of Editorial Cartoon/Illustration for any type of publication, freelancer Carlo Carbajal was a finalist for April 2009’s illustration of "The Perfect Office" (which also won a Pa’i award earlier this year).
In feature photography in any publication, freelancer Olivier Koning won for March 2009’s "Talk Story with Dean Okimoto"
