HBR’s Management Team

“Investing in talented, innovative and dedicated employees is one of the smartest moves I’ve made in my career,” said retiring Honolulu Board of REALTORS® (HBR) Chief Executive Officer Rochelle Lee Gregson. “Because when we invest in our employees, it pays dividends a hundred times over to our members in the form of top-notch customer service and loyalty to the organization.”

With just 34 employees, HBR serves more than 5,500 REALTOR® members across Oahu, and is one of the largest trade organizations in the state. Chief Operating Officer Sharon Baba explained, “Employee engagement and teamwork are key to our success. Our staff is cross trained in many different functions, and we’re united in our goal to constantly better the organization.”
To that end, HBR provides its employees myriad opportunities for personal and professional growth—from offering telecommute options and paid leave to care for an expanded definition of family members, to sponsoring yearly professional training and development for each employee.
Popular annual traditions include a prize-packed Halloween costume contest, off-site holiday luncheon and all-staff retreat to popular attractions, such as the Bishop Museum and the Polynesian Cultural Center.

“Because our employees feel valued at work, they value their community, too,” said Gregson. The organization makes annual donations to the Hawaii HomeOwnership Center, which provides assistance to first-time homebuyers, through its REALTOR® Housing Fund. Additionally, nearly one-hundred percent of employees contribute to the Aloha United Way  vveach year, and many lend their time and talents to local volunteer organizations such as the Domestic Violence Action Center and the Mediation Center of the Pacific.

“We’re thrilled to be among such good company as a Best Places to Work for the ninth consecutive year,” said incoming CEO Suzanne Young. “As HBR embarks on its 93rd year, I’m confident our team is energized and equipped to lead our members to the forefront of REALTOR® organizations nationwide.”
