Okahara and Associates, Inc.
To aid the booming agricultural plantations of decades past, Okahara and Associates opened its doors in 1979 on the Big Island as a dedicated mechanical engineering firm. Now, 36 years later and with a team of 25 employees, the company is a full-scale, multi-discipline engineering practice that serves both government and private clients throughout the Pacific.
The company handles everything from major roadways and complex water and waste water systems to the full-service, on-site development for some of our largest malls, shopping complexes, schools, and businesses. Okahara’s engineers have touched projects at nearly every Hawaii airport, military installation, major roadway, and have even handled such sensitive projects such as the Daniel K. Inouye Highway and observatory installations on Mauna Kea.
“Our clients are very important to us and we know that they’ll get the best service and expertise if our team feels happy at work,” says Bruce K. Meyers, President. “Between our Vice President, Tyson Toyama, and myself, we keep an open door policy and encourage our team members to approach us with their challenges and ideas. For us, it’s less about rules and policies and more about satisfied team members, which in turn assures that our work is done extremely well and that we continue our reputation for excellence.”
The company is always scouting gifted civil and mechanical engineers, CADD operators, and detail-oriented administration professionals. Employees are rewarded for their hard work with competitive salaries, full benefits packages, including opportunities for retirement benefits and bonuses.
