The Quest for a Sweet Solution

A yearly quest that every office manager and business owner faces each holiday season

September, 2016

The Annual Corporate Gift Conundrum

As we enter the fourth quarter, Hawaii Business, along with others in the business community will engage in the holiday season. Tidings of budget projections; strategic planning for the upcoming year; organizing the workload according to staff vacations; and overall preparations for the foreseeable future are enough to keep any company busy.

Amid the many to-dos, planning for the holidays also comes with its own challenges. Internally, it’s the company party. Externally, it’s taking care of your clients, partners and stakeholders. The joy of the holidays quickly gives way to a race against time and an administrative juggling act.

Then the questions pop up: How can we top last year’s gifts? Is it a short list or long list? How do I maximize my budget? It’s mental gymnastics split between the company initiatives and the holiday logistics. Before you know it, you’re on the eve of Christmas and scrambling to send gifts out in hopes that they don’t end up stuck in the mail bin. Logistics aside, we still have to make that key decision—what will we be gifting?

Leveling-Up the Gifting

Don’t get me wrong—we’ve sent great greetings over the years. We love our clients and always aim to top the year prior. I’ve settled with the traditional high-quality handwritten card as a safety. Digital? Convenient, but no aloha there.

Perhaps treats may be the answer? Fruit baskets are great, but shelf life? Not so much.

Okay. On the right track with treats. But what can fulfill these criteria?

  • High Quality
  • Easily Transportable
  • Fresh, Yet lasting
  • Customizable
  • Budget-Friendly

“Gourmet” You Say?

In the quest for a corporate gift worthy of the Hawaii Business community, gourmet cookies from Honolulu Cookie Company came to mind. Made with the finest ingredients, baked fresh daily in Honolulu, and packaged by hand, I had to explore further. I was pleased to find that they have 11 locations on Oahu, including a new storefront within the new International Marketplace, as well as three on Maui and one in Las Vegas. Additional stores will be opening at The LINQ in Las Vegas as well as on Guam.

I decided to pay a visit to their Factory Store in Sand Island to get a taste fresh from the source. After a thorough preview of 17 flavors plus 5 seasonal flavors, including Ginger Spice, Peppermint, and Pumpkin, I was ready to build my own custom corporate gifts.

Call me old-fashioned, but I elected to get my order started by consulting with a member of their corporate customer service team by calling (866) 333-5800. Christie Rivera was very helpful and walked me through some great options. I also made sure to sign up for a corporate account to get 10% off my order.

Christie worked one-on-one with me to make sure that I got the best value for my budget. A bonus? They take care of not only the order, but customization and delivery. I sent my list and they took care of the rest! I had multiple delivery addresses, and Honolulu Cookie was able to send to all, along with individualized, branded custom labels.

I went with their seasonal offering of the all-new 2016 Holiday Collection featuring unique keepsake boxes and tins, with a personalized greeting card to each of my recipients. For max freshness, the batch in my order will be baked in December prior to sending.

Overall, I’m pleased to say that the experience has gone above and beyond all expectations, and I can’t wait for our clients to get their gifts! Now if only planning for 2017 was this easy.
