Ian Clagstone, president and co-founder of Standard Commercial, has been named CEO of SC Capital, its new investment arm.
In this position, Clagstone will lead the company’s efforts to acquire multifamily apartment buildings, as well as office, retail and industrial properties in Hawaii. A particular focus will be on underperforming properties with deferred maintenance or other operating inefficiencies in need of stabilization through an infusion of capital, as well as operational and financial expertise.
SC Capital is the sister company to Standard Commercial, a separate Honolulu-based commercial real estate advisory group that has provided sales, leasing and management services since 2013. Clagstone is a co-founder of Standard Commercial; he has served as its president since 2018 and will continue in that role while also serving as CEO of SC Capital.
Mr. Clagstone is a veteran of the local real estate industry who began his career as an intern while studying at the University of Hawaii. His portfolio of multi-family, industrial and commercial transactions totals more than $400 million over the course of his career to date. In addition to extensive experience with tax-deferred 1031 exchange strategies for increased return on equity, he has led joint-venture acquisitions and dispositions totally over $40 million in the past six years. He is a designated Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and a licensed Hawaii real estate broker.
He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and marketing from the University of Hawaii Shidler College of Business and is a graduate of Punahou School. He is a dedicated community volunteer who serves on the Board of Directors for the GIFT Foundation of Hawaii and on the Executive Committee of the ULI Young Leaders Group.
