Hawaii News Now Earns Emmy for Emphasis on Streaming Content
Momentum Grows for HNN as Content Floods Streaming
Hawaii News Now has never been satisfied with the status quo, and that fact was highlighted once again on June 14, 2025, when the media company took home three Emmy Awards, including one for their significant marketing emphasis on the HNN streaming app.
The platform has been a big hit with consumers, who can watch news and other content live through the free app or cue up the product on demand when it’s convenient for them. HNN not only streams news content live but has populated the app with binge-worthy shows such as Kitchen Scraps, a new local food competition show; HNN original investigations and buzzer-beating matchups in high school sports.
General Manager Katie Pickman says the team has the streaming momentum, and they are not slowing down. “We’re not waiting for the future of content distribution at Hawaii News Now; we’re streaming it now,” said Pickman. “From live coverage of breaking news as it is happening, not delayed or rebroadcast, to cultural events, and high school sports, our streaming platform is where audiences are now. We welcome the Hawai‘i business community to sample what’s working and be part of what’s new, now and next.”
