Giving back is a critical part of how we help Hawaiʻi thrive.

With a focus on resiliency for our state, advancing decarbonization, and prioritizing social responsibility, Hawaiʻi Gas is working to build a more sustainable Hawaiʻi, with the well-being of our communities at the heart of everything we do. “Giving back is a critical part of how we help Hawaiʻi thrive,” said Hawaiʻi Gas president and CEO Alicia Moy. “It’s part of our company’s legacy, and it’s how we invest in Hawaiʻi’s future.”
Established more than 25 years ago, the Hawaiʻi Gas Kōkua Giving Program was designed to build lasting relationships with local nonprofits, encourage employee philanthropy, and increase involvement in volunteer events. Today, the program continues to provide direct support to local organizations statewide, empowering employee engagement, volunteerism, and charitable giving.

In 2025, Hawaiʻi Gas contributed more than $300,000 to nonprofit organizations through the Kōkua Giving program to organizations in areas including education, environmental stewardship, and social services. Recent support has included Holomua Collective, which works to address affordability for Hawaiʻi’s working families, and Helping Hands Hawaiʻi, which provides critical services for families in need. Hawaiʻi Gas provides annual scholarships for culinary students through the University of Hawaiʻi Foundation, and every year Hawaiʻi Gas employees coordinate a Workplace Giving campaign benefiting Aloha United Way, a critical community resource connecting people across Hawaiʻi with the services and support they need most.
Hawaiʻi Gas employees are passionate about giving back, with many returning each year to volunteer in support of longstanding community partners. In 2026, employees continued annual traditions of support for organizations including the Hawaiʻi Special Olympics, where they helped facilitate the Summer Games event for young athletes. Employees also greeted finishers with chili bowls at this year’s Hawaiʻi Lodging and Tourism Association Charity Walk, supported the Admissions booth at the Okinawan Festival, and organized a team to participate in the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk.
That same spirit of giving extends beyond volunteerism. Hawaiʻi Gas offers employees a matching program that doubles personal donations to qualified nonprofits, strengthening the impact of their contribution. “Our employees bring so much heart to the causes they choose to support,” said Moy. “By helping to amplify their generosity, we make an even bigger difference together.”
