The Chamber of Commerce Hawaii is honored to be recognized in Hawaii Business Magazine’s inaugural Excellence in Business Awards, a recognition that underscores the Chamber’s 175 years of commitment to our state’s businesses, communities, and people.
Since our founding in 1850, during a pivotal surge in Pacific trade, the Chamber has played a defining role in shaping the state’s economic and civic landscape. Originally created to unify local merchants and advocate for Hawaii’s commercial interests, the Chamber has grown into a dynamic force that represents 2,000 members statewide. Today, we proudly serve as the voice of business, advocating at every level of government, creating opportunities to connect, and championing initiatives that fuel growth across industries and generations.
As the nation’s second-oldest chamber of commerce west of the Rockies, our legacy is matched only by our vision for the future. The Chamber is driving progress through landmark programs like the 2030 Blueprint for Hawaii, a roadmap to build a more competitive and sustainable economy; BizBoost, a federally funded initiative that provides no-cost legal, financial, and accounting support to help small businesses access federal funding; and our Education & Workforce Development programs, which strengthen career pathways and close critical skills gaps. Meanwhile, the Young Professionals Program continues to cultivate future leaders by empowering young talent to thrive and serve their communities right here at home. Last but not least, since 1985, our Military Affairs Council has championed Hawaii’s second-largest economic driver by strengthening ties between businesses, the community, and national defense.

Chamber of Commerce Hawaii, a 501(c)(6) membership organization, advocates for business and drives economic growth statewide. In 1987, it established the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce Foundation, a 501(c)(3) that operates exclusively for charitable, educational, literary, and scientific purposes.
